Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Sally has been inspired throughout the years by the work of Puerto Rican composer and lyricist, Rafael Hernandez, known affectionately as "el jibarito," and considered to be a true patriot of the Puerto Rican culture. Sally has a classical singing background, and her music covers the range from opera to folk music. Sally was drawn into the latin jazz scene by a friend who introduced her to Antonio Carlos Jobim. She then further pursued her interest in latin standards to reclaim her roots.

Sally's extreme versatility as a vocalist has led her to perform in American jazz venues throughout Los Angeles such as Ca' del Sol, Monteleone's, and the Monsoon Café, and with various musical groups from the Wolverines in Minneapolis to Art Decco in Los Angeles. Sally also sang every holiday season for seven years with Diane Burt's "The Caroling Company." in Los Angeles.

Sally is also an accomplished actress. Television credits include shows such as The Young and The Restless, the PBS series American Family, with James Edward Olmos, Hang Time, Arrest & Trial, Alright Already, and PAX TV's It's a Miracle. Stage credits include off-off Broadway, the Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis) and the Goodman Theater (Chicago).

Sally currently resides in Ithaca, NY, where she can be seen singing regularly at Delilah's Dance Club with the celebrated gypsy swing band,
"Djug Django." Sally partnered up in 2008 with guitarist Doug Robinson, and their duo "Sally and Doug" has inspired many audiences. Their CD "Crimson" has won much local praise and recognition. Sally also sings with her band "Arco Iris," which includes Doug Robinson and percussionist Jorge Cuevas; and she appears also as "Sally Ramirez and Her Friends" -- her friends have included wonderful local artists such as Neal Massa, Harry Aceto, and Alejandro Bernard Papchryssanthou, Bernie Upson, and others. Sally tours with Doug Robinson presenting their cultural awareness show for schools called "Songs From The Heart," and their "Concerts In Your Home" shows for people who want to host exciting and inspiring house concerts for their friends.
